When you are ready to create and customize your own courses, i GET IT has you covered. With the i GET IT Authoring Tools, you are able to create courses from scratch, customize existing courses, make changes and publish existing content. Below is a brief summary about course authoring. Authoring Overview
Setting Up an Environment
Each account has its own configuration for a custom catalog. i GET IT provides a configuration editor that allows an author to create custom categories, topics and filters that are used to store and display content to learners in the catalog. Think of it as a folder system in Windows Explorer.
The i GET IT Course Builder
The i GET IT Course Builder is the main area you will do all of your course building. The Course Builder allows you to assemble your course structure with course units and pages, edit catalog properties, attach practice files and manage authoring permissions.
The i GET IT Authoring Tools
Once in the i GET IT Course Builder, an author will use the i GET IT Authoring Tool to create course pages using our page templates, creating consistent and uniform looking materials. These pages can then be edited directly from the Authoring Tool later for any changes or updates, quickly and easily, without extra publishing software.
Using the Authoring Tool, you are also able to publish existing materials from PowerPoint (using rapid-conversion), Word documents, PDF's and Videos. Plus, you are able to add unit quizzes for learners to test their learning retention (assessments can be created separately as well).
Publishing an AICC Course Package
For those who have authored a course package using an external authoring tool, we do accept AICC course packages that can be uploaded and published. At this time, only AICC formats are accepted.
Add to Learning Paths
After you have created your custom courses, you are able to create and assign Learning Paths for learners to focus their training.
What Else Can You Do?
Customize Our MCAD/PLM Content
For customers that subscribe to our engineering training subscriptions, you can modify any of our MCAD/PLM software topics. An author can copy and customize the content, not only change the structure but use our Authoring Tool to edit the text content. This allows you to add your own best practices and custom flavor of how you use your engineering software.
Link to Other Learning Systems
After creating custom courses, you are able can download AICC/SCORM hosted packages for import into corporate Learning Management Systems. This allows you to use i GET IT as an authoring source and tool but still maintain control of the content and learning data in your LMS.
