Videos can be added to any course page. i GET IT currently accepts MP4, MP4V, Adobe Flash (SWF) and Quicktime MOV file formats. Follow the process below to add a video to your course.
Requirements: User with Admin, Manager or Author roles.
Add a Video to a New Course Page
- Open Author > Build Courses to launch the i GET IT Course Builder.
- Choose an existing course to edit by selecting the pencil icon in the row of the course you are wanting to add a video to (or create a new course following the previous articles).
- While in the course, navigate to Step 3: Build to access your course structure.
- Open the course unit where you want to add a new video page, make sure the unit is active (highlighted in blue text).
- Select the plus icon (+) to add a new course page, choose from the Templates section for Video, then Build from Template.
- You are now in the video template. Note, our i GET IT page templates are just a blue print, you can add the different page elements that are available to you on the right sidebar. To get started, first create a Page Title.
- Click Select Video and upload/choose a video file to upload. Note: i GET IT will try to read and populate the page title with the video file name uploaded.
- Once the video has completed being uploaded, be sure to finish choosing your Page Properties from the right sidebar.
- When finished, click the Save button from the top-right.
- The video will now be published into a new page, select the page in the table of contents and view a preview of your new video page.
- Click Exit to leave the Course Builder.
Add a Video to an Existing Course Page
- When you want to add a video to an already existing course page, the process is pretty much the same as above with a small addition.
- Navigate to Author > Build Course.
- Select a course to edit by clicking the pencil icon (+) and then navigate to Step 3: Build.
- Find the course page to edit and click the pencil icon (+) to open the i GET IT Authoring Tool.
- Here is where we want to add a new Element to place our video into. Select Elements from the tab in the sidebar, and find the Video element box.
- You have to options to add the new element. One option, just click the Video element box once and it will place the element at the bottom of the course page template. OR click-n-drag the video element in place in your course page.
- After getting your new element in place, click the Select Video button and upload your video.
- Repeat the steps in the first procedure above to finish.
Replace a Video Already Published
- When you want to replace a video to an already existing course page, we will follow this process.
- Navigate to Author > Build Course.
- Select a course to edit by clicking the pencil icon (+) and then navigate to Step 3: Build.
- Find the course page to edit and click the pencil icon (+) to open the i GET IT Authoring Tool.
- Here is where we want to replace the current video with a new one. Highlight the current video element with your mouse and click the trash icon to remove the current video element.
- Now we want to add a new Element to place our new video into. Select Elements from the tab in the sidebar, and find the Video element box.
- You have to options to add the new element. One option, just click the Video element box once and it will place the element at the bottom of the course page template. OR click-n-drag the video element in place in your course page.
- After getting your new element in place, click the Select Video button and upload your video.
- Repeat the steps in the first procedure above to finish.
